The Chamber of Deputies, in 2010, and the Senate, in 2011, amended their parliamentary regulations in order to regulate lobbying activities and the relationships between lobbyists and members of the Chamber.

With the term ‘lobbyist’ (cabildeo), Article 263 of the Chamber’s Rules of Procedure and Article 298 of the Senate’s Rules of Procedure define anyone who engages in an activity aimed at influencing parliamentarians in order to obtain a pleasing act for them or for subjects they represent.

Anyone wishing to engage in such activity must register on a public list, published online and updated every six months.

It is forbidden for the parliamentarian to ask the lobbyist for any kind of favour or advantage as well as to receive any kind of gift or service from him, even free of charge.
